The Alberta Association of Physiotherapy Personal Information Protection Policy

The Alberta Association of Physiotherapy (AAP) is committed to respecting the privacy of individuals and recognizes the need of people with whom we do business (members, non-members, clients, customers, patients), and employees for the appropriate management and protection of any Personal Information that you agree to provide to us. Personal Information means information about an identifiable individual, but does not include the name, title or business address or telephone number of an employee of an organization.

Providing Personal Information to the AAP, and using this site means that you agree and consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Information by the AAP in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Collection, Use and Disclosure of Information

We collect personally identifiable information, like names, addresses, etc., when voluntarily submitted by visitors to the Site. The information you provide is used to fulfill your specific request unless you give us permission to use it in another manner, for example to add you to one of our mailing lists. It may also be used to provide programs and services to you, and to establish and maintain our relationship with you. We will limit the collection and use of Personal Information required for valid business purposes of the Association, or to comply with legislation. All emails and newsletters from this site allow you to opt out of further mailings.

We share your Personal Information only with employees for the purposes described above. We may also disclose your Personal Information to third party service providers for such purposes, who will be obligated to protect your Personal Information. We may also disclose your Personal Information where required by law.


We will make every reasonable effort to ensure that the Personal Information we collect, and use is accurate and complete. Individuals providing Personal Information will on written request have the opportunity to review and correct their Personal Information, and on written request by an individual to whom the information relates, the organization will modify the information as required.

Commitment to Data Security and Retention

The AAP takes reasonable steps to make sure that your personally identifiable information is kept secure. Only authorized persons, agents and contractors (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information. We will keep your Personal Information only as long as it is necessary for the purposes for which it is collected.
