Be In The Room Where It Happens

Physiotherapy in Alberta is on the cusp of some big changes. We’re facing significant challenges that could impact the health and wellness of our entire province. Professionals today grapple with industry inconsistencies, the pressure of growing demand, and the challenge of finding peers who understand their unique career journey.

At AAP, we don’t just see these challenges; we actively seek to address them. We’ve tailored our community to meet you exactly where you are in your career today. And to help you get where you want to go, whether you’re a seasoned professional or a new grad.

We hear your concerns. They’re our concerns too. And we are actively working to amplify your voice so Alberta’s policymakers and influencers hear it–and can’t ignore it. We’ve seen a lot of success so far, and we’re only getting started. Your place at our table is ready and waiting.

You're not just practising physiotherapy. You're shaping its future.

Comfort in career stagnation is a myth.

As a seasoned practitioner, you’re well aware of the rhythm of the industry – the breakthroughs, the challenges, and the status quo. You’ve navigated your way through patient needs and healthcare reforms. You’re adept at juggling your personal growth with patient care.

But there’s a persistent itch – a desire for more. More influence in the policies that govern your work. More access to resources and growth opportunities. And more connections with peers who understand the intricacies of your journey. That’s where AAP steps in.

We acknowledge your insights, challenges, and aspirations and value your expertise as an essential part of shaping the future of physiotherapy in Alberta.

Our vision is clear: Elevate your role from practitioner to change agent.

As you delve deeper into your AAP membership, you’ll feel the shift – your voice carries more weight in shaping policies. Your connections span a diverse range of physiotherapists. Your access to resources and learning opportunities expands exponentially.

It’s not just about enhancing your existing practice; it’s about unlocking your potential to drive changes that will benefit all of Alberta’s physiotherapists. At AAP, we help you move from the confines of your individual practice to a more collaborative and influential role in the physiotherapy landscape.

We believe in your potential. The question is – are you ready to embrace it?

You're not just a part-time practitioner. You're a full-time game changer.

Your influence isn't measured in hours.

As a part-time physiotherapist, you’ve learned to balance your professional commitment with other responsibilities. While this might feel like you’re running a separate race, you’re part of the same big picture – your role, expertise, and contributions are every bit as essential to the physiotherapy field in Alberta.

The challenge lies in feeling disconnected from the broader professional community. You don’t have the same exposure as full-time practitioners and struggle with a perceived lesser voice in the industry. We’re here to flip that script.

We see your unique journey, your distinct challenges and the unique perspectives you bring to the table.

We're here to champion your voice, regardless of your practice hours.

You’ll notice a shift as you join AAP and immerse in its community. Your voice resonates within policy discussions. Your networking opportunities increase, and your part-time status no longer feels like a limitation.

This isn’t about mirroring the full-time physiotherapy experience; it’s about championing your unique journey, amplifying your voice, and recognizing the value you add to the industry, irrespective of your work hours.

At AAP, we advocate for all practitioners, reinforcing the belief that every physiotherapist – full-time or part-time – urban or rural, has the potential to impact the future of physiotherapy in Alberta significantly. It’s your profession. Claim your place.

Your career journey isn't just beginning. It's accelerating.

Keep the momentum going.

Stepping into physiotherapy as a new graduate or student can be an exhilarating yet daunting experience. The thrill of applying your knowledge in practice. The uncertainty of charting your professional path. The pressure of student loans and the challenge of securing a steady income can all coexist.

The value of joining a professional association isn’t immediate, particularly when finances are tight, and your career is just starting to unfold. But this is exactly when the support of AAP can make a profound difference.

Fuel your early career with connections, guidance, and advocacy.

Joining the AAP as a student or new grad isn’t an added expense; it’s an investment in your future. With a discounted membership, you gain access to a wealth of resources designed to guide your career journey, broaden your network, and advocate for your interests in the industry.

In addition to adding another line to your resume, you’re embedding yourself into a supportive community that fuels your growth. You’re igniting a future brimming with potential. We’re here to fan the flames.

Being a PTA isn't secondary. It's essential.

You're not just supporting. You're thriving.

As a Physiotherapy Assistant, you play an integral role in patient care and recovery. However, you might often feel like you’re on the industry’s periphery, not fully embraced by professional circles or adequately represented in decision-making forums.

AAP bridges that gap and offers a platform that acknowledges and values your vital contribution.

Amplify your voice and elevate your career.

As an AAP member, you’re more than a supportive player – you’re an integral part of the team. We’re committed to addressing your unique needs and concerns, paving the way for you to excel in your role and contribute even more significantly to patient care.

It’s not just about standing alongside physiotherapists; it’s about recognizing your distinct role, championing your cause, and fostering your professional development. Join us, and experience the difference of being truly seen, heard, and supported.

You're not on pause. You're evolving.

Your professional journey doesn't stop when you step away.

You may not be practicing right now, but that doesn’t diminish your value as a physiotherapist. You may be taking a break, transitioning between jobs, or contemplating a new direction in your career.

During these transition periods, it’s easy to feel detached from the profession, undervalued, or apprehensive about your future. The perception that active practice is the only avenue to contribute and benefit from the industry can add to these concerns. AAP challenges that perception and keeps you connected to your profession.

We understand your unique position and the challenges that come with it.

Our objective is clear: Keep you connected and empowered, no matter your practice status.

Even when you’re not practicing, becoming an AAP member can reignite your professional spark and keep you connected with the industry.

With AAP, you don’t just watch from the sidelines; you remain part of the dialogue shaping the profession, stay informed about industry trends, and access a network of peers for support and inspiration.

It’s not about waiting for your next career move; it’s about enriching your professional journey in all its phases. AAP stands by you, championing your unique position and maintaining your connection to the physiotherapy community. Even in pauses, your role is vital. Embrace it.

Your impact shouldn't retire with you.

Create a lasting legacy.

As a retired physiotherapist, you’ve dedicated a lifetime to the profession. As you step back from active practice, you might wonder how you fit into the ever-evolving landscape of physiotherapy. Is there a space for you in AAP when you no longer see patients daily?

Yes, there is. AAP values the wealth of knowledge and experience that retired professionals bring to our community.

Help shape tomorrow's physiotherapists.

As an AAP member, your retirement transitions from an end into a new beginning – a chance to guide and inspire the next generation of physiotherapists. Your voice matters. Your insights can shape policies. Your legacy can continue influencing the field long after you’ve hung up your scrubs.

You’re not extending your career. You’re leveraging your experience to create a lasting impact. Join us, and let your wisdom light the path for the next-generation physiotherapists. You’re needed more than you know.

This broad range of experiences, from rural to urban practice, from pediatric to geriatric care, and from academic to clinical settings, provides a broad perspective to address the needs and challenges faced by Alberta’s physiotherapy community.

Every leader is pivotal in shaping our association.

With this solid leadership foundation, AAP is in an excellent position to drive our profession forward, promoting physiotherapy’s vital role in Alberta’s healthcare landscape.
