AAP / CPA Combined Membership

Starting August 17, 2022 the portal for membership renewal will open. Membership renewal is effective from October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023.

The fee schedule for 2022-2023 is:

• Practising A = $280
• Practising B = $224
• Non-Practising = $168
• New Grad = $112
• Physiotherapy Assistant = $112
• Physiotherapy Assistant New Grad = $56
• Retired = $42

The fee schedule is an annual fee that is effective from October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023.

The Alberta Association of Physiotherapy established a strategic partnership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association in May 2022 that provides access to Professional Liability Insurance, practice resources, professional development at reduced costs.

The combined CPA and AAP fee allows physiotherapists in Alberta access to the discounts that CPA has established, but also provides the AAP to continue to advocate for the profession within the province of Alberta.

Why are my fees higher now than when I was just part of the College? The organizations were required to separate due to the Government of Alberta’s Bill 46 and the College chose not to decrease fees for 2022-23 (click here for the College fee schedule).

As an independent organization which must generate its own revenue, the AAP is working hard to keep the association fees as low as possible for its members. In the first year this has included incurring overhead and set up costs, the use of a virtual office space, offering paid advertising to non-members, and leveraging resources available from the CPA and other provincial physiotherapy associations.

Going forward, the association will continue its work to be an advocate for the profession, and this includes access to:

• Discounts on professional development courses and products (CPA discounts available now, more coming in 2022)
• Find a Physio (under development)
• The provincial marketplace (launched in July 2022)
• Participate in the provincial Advocacy Committee (launched in July 2022)
• Opportunities to become a voice of physiotherapy in Alberta and Canada (coming late 2022)
• A new mentorship program for physiotherapists (coming in 2023)
• A network of peers (in person and virtual events coming in 2023)
• A member-only job board (launched in early 2022)
• Advertising and marketing opportunities to increase awareness of your clinic (coming in 2022/23)
• Support for new physiotherapists, PTAs, and physiotherapy & PTA students
• Discounts on home and auto insurance
